Darrow’s Blueberry

Vaccinium corymbosum darrow was intoduced in 1965 by Bill Darrow of Green Mountain Orchards in Vermont, Darrow is a strong evergreen shrub 5-6 ft tall, sometimes more. The leaves turn brilliant red in autumn. The urn-shaped flowers are pinkish-white, appearing in spring, and are they mature into very large, sweet to tart berries in mid to late summer. Darrow’s blueberry is a good choice for a naturalistic planting in very acid soils, and will tolerate soils which are seasonally wet. Can be grown in a container in ericaceous compost.
